How Has Instagram Changed your life?

The news today that Instagram was acquired by Facebook for $1billion has rocked the technology industry; Some people believe it's not a big deal and to be expected given the user acquisition it will give Facebook, others have been saying it's a clear sign we're in a tech bubble as the company is only just over 500 days old. Mysteriously, the company closed a $50 million round of funding the day before they sold to Facebook, which makes you wonder if the investors knew about the sale and we're trying to quickly get a big return.

‎"Remember this day. 551-day-old Instagram is worth $1 billion. 116-year-old New York Times Co. $967 million." @TonyaHallRadio

Money aside , it's the function of Instagram that worries me, what does it essentially do? It helps you make pictures look good and share them with your friends- its business model is essentially narcissism - I wrote about the lack of world-changing ideas in Silicon Valley a while ago, and whilst I'm sure the Instagram founders deserve every bit of success for their efforts, but will this news create more wanna-be entrepreneurs who create photo-sharing apps verses apps that improve human life?

Maybe I'm completely wrong and Instragram is changing and improving human life around the world, maybe I just don't know about it. If it has changed yours, I would like to know how, please state in the comments below how Instrgram has changed your life?
