Winning startups will be chosen as follows:
- Startups apply to compete in Startup World via the online form
- 20 of the best startups who apply will be selected by the Startup World team to do a 3 minute pitch in their local city in front of a panel of expert judges
- The team with the highest score will be named regional winner
- The regional winner will be invited to Silicon Valley to pitch in the grand final in front of a panel of Silicon Valley influentials
- The startup with the highest score will be crowned the world's best startup and winner of Startup World 2012
All startups who apply and get accepted to pitch at a local level will gain media coverage on The Next Web and a chance to pitch in front of a panel of expert judges.
The startups who win the regional pitches will get a chance to fly to Silicon Valley and pitch in front of international media and a panel of Silicon Valley influentials plus an organized tour of some of the hottest startups in Silicon Valley.
